Queen of Party Savings

Are you called the party queen?  Do you love throwing parties, but hate the cost of all the decorations?  Don’t worry about it, I’ve got you covered on how you can save money on decorations and put some money back in your pocket!

Most of my party decorations come from the dollar store.  What?!  Yes, that is correct…the dollar store.  You can get all kinds of great stuff… from the paper plates, plastic utensils, plastic serving utensils, crepe paper, balloons, plastic tablecloths etc.

Do you have a theme?  Shower, birthday, holidays, engagements, bridal showers, baby showers, etc.?  You can get different colored paper products from the dollar store and decorate accordingly.  Baby blue and pink for the baby shower (unless you already know what they’re having), boy’s birthday dark blue, girl’s birthday pink or purple OR pink and purple.  (Why do little girls love pink and purple?)  You get the idea.  Fourth of July: red, white and blue.  Halloween:  Orange and black.  Tailgating:  whatever your school’s colors are you will be covered.

Decorations…  I don’t go all out on decorations…  for birthdays it is usually a bunch of balloons (and you can get the fancy balloons blown up for you at the dollar store as well).

But if you do want to do something a little special depending on the time of year you might want to gather some sticks from the yard and paint them white and then spray glue on and use different colors of glitter and put into a nice vase.  Or gather pinecones use them au natural or spray paint them.  You can put in baskets of just scatter them on the center of the table with glitter.  Candles are always good (use the plastic tea light candles and you will be able to reuse them over and over again).

The dollar store is great too for small vases and colored stones.  Add some tea lights and you’re all set.  Be creative.  Look on Pinterest and get some great ideas.

If you get clear vases, plastic tea lights, plastic serving utensils, plastic bowls, etc. you can even use them over and over!

If you use your imagination and take a little time, your parties will look expensive, but will be easy on your pocketbook.

Yes, you are the party queen, but after today, you will also be the savings queen.

Like my husband always says, Saving Money IS Making Money.
